Louis van Harten studied Electrical Engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology, specialising in embedded systems and high-performance computing. His bachelor thesis focused on GPU acceleration of scientific simulation software. In 2018, he received his Master of Science degree with honours. His master thesis focused on the design of an interferometry-based positioning system for sounding rockets.
In October 2018, Louis joined the Quantitative Medical Image Analysis Group as a Ph.D. candidate. His research focuses on using Deep Learning for fast, automatic delineation of brain tumors and organs at risk, as well as synthesis of pseudo-CT scans from MR images. These tools should allow for MR-only radiotherapy treatment planning, enabling intervention shortly after neurosurgical procedures.
